The girl who, thanks to purchases from Lazada, won a car for more than 500 million
Raglay native Cao Thi Mai (21, Khanh Hoa) won a Mazda 2 special prize at Lazada Vietnam’s 10-year shopping event.
Occasionally shopping for home products and family clothing on the e-commerce platform, Mai never thought she would be lucky enough to win an award. So when Lazada announced that she was the winner of a special car, the ethnic girl “cried with joy.” Because when you receive the reward, it is the most valuable asset that can help your whole family be more motivated to face difficulties in life.
The days of waiting to be called out by the organizers to confirm the Maya Prize are a century old. “I can’t sleep many nights when I think about the price. I don’t know what to do with this award,” Mai said with concern.
Dropped out of school to become a developer
Cao Thi Mai is the third daughter in an ethnic Raglay family of 6 siblings. Having to leave school early, Mai became the breadwinner of the family. “My parents encouraged me to study so that I could have a steady job later, but due to difficult circumstances I had to drop out of school to support my family,” Maii admits.
Mai’s family lives in a house of less than 40 square meters perched precariously amidst the vast acacia forest in the mountainous district of Khanh Vinh in Khanh Hoa province. Mr. Cao Sanh, Mai’s father, said that despite the difficult circumstances, he always encouraged his children to study. His wife was always tormented when Mai had to drop out of school to help her parents take care of the children.
In the first few days after leaving school, Mai went to work for two days, but the income was not significant. Know how to work in a dairy. The job is quite comfortable, I also save a bit to help my parents,” Mai said.
After working for a while, Mai had to quit her job due to the Covid-19 epidemic. Returning to her hometown to take care of the kids while her parents went to the country for 2 or 3 days, Mai always wanted to find a new job soon to have money to fix the house and not the kids . Expelled from school halfway to school.
Lazada’s joy and motivation to win
Poverty never challenges Cao Thi Mai to dream big. He always struggled to have a job with a steady income to support his family. While working in Nha Trang, Mai also saved her daily life to save money to send to her parents. She also sometimes buys household items to send home and buys more children’s clothes through Lazada with the shopkeeper’s advice.
“Thanks to the e-commerce platform, people can conveniently receive things at home. Also, it’s convenient for me to select products without going to the store like I used to,” Maii said.
In addition to being a Lazada customer, Mai was fortunate to participate in the Birthday of the Century program to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Lazada Vietnam and to be a special award for this e-commerce platform.
When Mai found out about Lazada, she was hesitant at first, but she couldn’t hide her joy and sent messages to her friends and family. Mr. Sanh: Mai’s father was very happy to hear that his daughter had won a customer gift for 10 years of Lazada, a Mazda car worth more than 500 million dong, but his heart was full of sorrow.
“In my hometown, it is also announced that many people have won awards, but they have to do the paperwork, they have to pay some money to get the award, some people have been scammed out of tens of millions of dollars, loans everywhere. I want to remind you that I’m not excited, but I hope it’s true in my heart,” said Mr. Sanh.
At the request of the whole family, the representative of Lazada went to Nuoc Nhi village, Khanh Phu commune, Khanh Vinh district, on the day he unveiled a Mazda worth more than VND 500 million.
Sharing joy at the win, Mai said she plans to sell her car to renovate the 6’s home. “Thanks to Lazada’s grand prize, the dream of a spacious, full house with learning opportunities for children is about to come true,” Mai said with a hopeful look in her eyes.
Not only Cao Thi Mai, but also many other customers are lucky to be among the 10,000 winners of the “Gift of the Century” of the Lazada 10th Anniversary Shopping Festival.
