Clean the dishes with a sponge
Microbiologist Solveig Langsrud from Nofima (Norwegian Food Research Institute) recommends using a plastic or silicone brush to clean dishes instead of a sponge.
Plastic brushes are dry while sponges are a perfect place for bacteria to grow due to moisture. These bacteria will spread to the dishes, dishes, easily attack your stomach.
The brush is easy to clean, so you only need to put it in the dishwasher once a week.
